WHAT HAPPENED?
The Red Devils turned to Onana in the summer of 2023 when bidding farewell to David de Gea. The four-time Player of the Year at Old Trafford left as a free agent when his contract expired, meaning that a new No.1 was required.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
United spent big on luring Onana away from Serie A giants Inter, but have seen costly errors blight his spell in English football. Serious questions continue to be asked of his reliability between the sticks.
DID YOU KNOW?
Interest from the Saudi Pro League was shown two years ago, and claim that teams in the Middle East remain keen on Onana. Clubs from that region would have no trouble matching his supposed £200,000-a-week wage packet.

WHAT FABRIZIO ROMANO SAID
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano is, however, adamant that no imminent move is being sought. He says: “At the moment, it’s important to clarify that Onana wants to stay at Manchester United and compete at his best level as long as possible. It’s his desire to change the situation, help the team, continue at Old Trafford and follow his dream.
“At the same time, Man Utd's management – together with Ruben Amorim – will assess the goalkeeper situation to decide how they want to proceed with that position in the summer transfer window. So the situation could be open and it's an interesting one to follow.”
Celtic have now made contact over a deal for an “exciting” forward who could be brought in to replace Kyogo Furuhashi this month, according to a report.
Furuhashi catching the eye at Celtic
Furuhashi has been one of the Hoops’ top performers for a number of years now, and he has continued to impress this season, picking up eight goals and three assists in 20 Scottish Premiership outings.
As such, the Japan international has started to attract attention from elsewhere, with a report from last month revealing that MLS side Atlanta United were preparing a £10m bid, having first made their interest clear last summer.
Brendan Rodgers’ side are in an extremely strong position to win the Scottish Premiership title yet again, with rivals Rangers recently slipping up against Hibernian and Dundee, despite winning the derby at Ibrox earlier in the month.
As such, the Celtic manager may not feel too many changes are necessary this winter, but a plan is now in place for if Kyogo departs Parkhead.

According to a report from The Express, the Hoops are looking to revamp their attacking options, and they have now identified an ideal replacement for the Japanese forward.
Contact has been made with Mathias Kvistgaarden’s camp since the January transfer window opened, with Kyogo’s future still in doubt amid the interest from Atlanta United.
Celtic are unlikely to make a move for Kvistgaarden this month, unless Kyogo departs the club, but he is well liked by key figures at Parkhead, who have now been tracking him for 18 months.
Brondby are keen to keep hold of the forward until the end of the season, as he has been in fantastic form, but a January move is not out of the question, should a suitable offer be tabled, amid growing interest from clubs in England and Germany.
Kvistgaarden impressing in Denmark
The 22-year-old has been in fine form in Denmark this season, weighing in with 10 goals and four assists in 15 league outings, so it is clear to see why the Hoops are so keen on a move.
Football talent scout Jacek Kulig has lauded the Dane as an “exciting” talent in the past, and his performances in his home country indicate he could be ready to take the next step in his career by moving to Parkhead.
However, it would be a shame to see Kyogo leave the club, given how big a part the forward has played in Celtic’s success over the past few years, but he will be turning 30 in just over a week’s time, and it is important that Rodgers plans for the future.
As such, Celtic should continue to monitor Kvistgaarden’s performances between now and the end of the season to make sure he would be a suitable replacement for the number 8, who will be a very tough act to follow.
Towards the start of 2023, Ipswich Town versus Bristol Rovers was amazingly a League One fixture, with the Tractor Boys very much a sleeping giant for the third tier.
Now, the two teams face off against each other in the FA Cup later today with the Gas still deep in the lowly division whilst Ipswich now face off against the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League away from focusing on the twists and turns of the EFL.
Kieran McKenna will know his team cannot underestimate the visitors from Bristol however, having been on the receiving end of a major Cup upset early last year when non-league Maidstone United came to town, as the minnows from Kent pulled off a monumental 2-1 win.
But, with the main priority being Premier League safety in Suffolk, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a number of first-team faces rested, hopeful that the reserve personnel picked can still secure a straightforward victory.
Players McKenna could look to rest vs Bristol
The first switch could see Liam Delap dropped from the XI, with McKenna not wanting to overwork his main source of goals against League One opposition.
Indeed, the ex-Manchester City man has been a mainstay of his manager’s Premier League lineups and rightly so, with a mightily impressive goal tally of eight strikes next to his name from those constant appearances.
With Delap also piquing the interest of Chelsea this transfer window, it’s unlikely he would want to overexert himself against the Gas, knowing an injury knock could trouble a potential move away.
Other key faces such as Leif Davis might well also be given a rare off-day, with the former Leeds United left-back starting every single Premier League game available to him this season.
Moving back to the lone striker spot, however, there is one reserve figure at Portman Road who would lap up an opportunity to start over Delap, with the aim of trying to prove his worth to the cause and perhaps stop Ipswich from feeling they have to fork out excessive millions this January on a fresh centre-forward.
The "unreal" star who could shine in for Delap
The attacker in question here is Ali Al-Hamadi, who has averaged just 13 minutes of Premier League action this season from his 11 appearances, zero of which have been starts.
Obviously, Delap’s space in the XI is as concrete as it could possibly be, but Al-Hamadi will still feel frustrated by his lack of minutes, having impressed last campaign when joining in January from League Two outfit AFC Wimbledon.
The Iraq international would fire home four strikes from 14 league outings for the Tractor Boys when utilised late on in games, with the former Dons man not struggling at all with the immense jump up in quality from the fourth tier to the league just below the Premier League.
Once labelled as an “unreal” talent to watch by football analyst Tom Williams when he was regularly firing them in for Wimbledon in the lower depths of the EFL, he could receive a much-needed boost in confidence facing off against Inigo Calderon’s men, knowing full well he has what it takes to outclass teams of Bristol Rovers’ standards.

It’s clear from the table above that there is a dangerous striker inside Al-Hamadi, with a devastating 27 strikes managed for the Dons, as he goes about trying to prove his worth still to McKenna even as he begins to be linked with a loan move away.
He could gifted that chance later today, with a positive performance from the forgotten-about 22-year-old perhaps making the Tractor Boys think twice about splashing out wads of cash on targets such as £30m man Igor Jesus, knowing they have competent cover for Delap already at home.

Tom Moody’s second stint as Sunrisers coach has come to an end•BCCI
Brian Lara has replaced Tom Moody as head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad for the 2023 IPL season. Lara was part of the SRH team management last season as a strategic advisor and batting coach, and this will be his first assignment as a head coach of a T20 team.It is learned that Moody and Sunrisers came to a mutual agreement to part ways. Moody was recently appointed director of cricket at Desert Vipers, one of the six franchises in the ILT20, which is scheduled to begin in the UAE in January 2023.Related
Trevor Bayliss becomes new Punjab Kings head coach
Moody had returned to Sunrisers in 2021 as director of cricket with fellow Australian Trevor Bayliss as head coach. Once Bayliss left after a dismal 2021 season, in which Sunrisers finished last with just three wins, the franchise appointed Moody as head coach, the second time he had held the post. In his highly successful first stint, between 2013 and 2019, Moody had helped Sunrisers reach the playoffs five times and win the IPL in 2016.Moody’s second stint as head coach, however, was not successful: in 2022, Sunrisers finished eighth in the 10-team tournament, with six wins and eight defeats. In the last two seasons, Sunrisers were the worst-performing team in the IPL in terms of wins: in 28 matches, they had nine victories, 18 defeats and one tie.Moody would have been disappointed considering Sunrisers had assembled a well-balanced squad at the auction, before which they had retained three players: their captain Kane Williamson and the Indian pair of Umran Malik and Abdul Samad. In the first half of the season, Williamson got lucky at the toss, which played a big role in Sunrisers winning five matches in a row. However, they slid down the points table just as fast with five consecutive defeats. Williamson’s poor batting form coupled with injuries to two key Indian players – T Natarajan and Washington Sundar – left Sunrisers frustrated. Those two injuries came immediately after a defeat against Gujarat Titans, which Moody said triggered “negative momentum” from which his team could never recover. “We were small margins away from being in a different position on the table and that could’ve easily been in the top 4,” Moody said on May 22, after Sunrisers ended their season with another defeat.

Everton have yet to make a signing during the January transfer window so far, despite several areas needing to be upgraded.
David Moyes appears to be getting things right on the pitch since taking over from Sean Dyche, recording two wins from his first three Premier League matches.
Plenty of players have been linked with a move to Goodison Park, but time is running out to secure a new arrival or two.
Although their recent win over Brighton and Hove Albion gives the Toffees some breathing space in the league table, they aren’t out of the woods just yet.
Moyes will be keen to see his side keep their foot on the gas over the next few games. Leicester City are the next opponent in the league, which represents an ideal opportunity to move even further away from the drop zone.
Might the manager have a signing or two in the door by the time this game rolls around? It looks as though he is working hard to make things happen.
As it happens, they could well sign their next Big Dunc before the window is done…
Duncan Ferguson’s Everton stats
Cast your mind back over 30 years ago. Ferguson joined Rangers in the summer of 1993 for a fee in the region of £4m, making him the most expensive British player at the time.
It didn’t quite work out as planned for the burly Scot, who failed to settle in Glasgow, despite his obvious talents, It wasn’t until he joined the Toffees on loan in October 1994, before eventually signing for the English side on a permanent basis, that he begun to shine.
He endeared himself to the Goodison Park faithful by helping the club defeat Manchester United in the 1995 FA Cup final, which is still their last major honour.
As time went on, Ferguson secured cult figure status in Merseyside. Across two different spells, he went on to make a total of 267 appearances for the club, scoring 70 goals while registering 12 assists.
He later returned in a coaching capacity, before assisting Carlo Ancelotti, even taking charge of Everton in a caretaker role on two occasions.
Duncan Ferguson
So, why in 2025 is this all relevant? Well, Everton look as though they’re heading back to Rangers for a new recruit.
Everton targeting attacking starlet
According to journalist Graeme Bailey, the Toffees are still showing an interest in Rangers striker Hamza Igamane.
Transfer Focus
Mega money deals, controversial moves and big-name flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across Football FanCast.
“Igamane is a player of real interest to a number of Premier League clubs as the window closes. Everton still like him, they have done work on him,” said Bailey.
“It remains to be seen if they make a push, Tottenham have joined the hunt for him but a host of clubs are now looking – he is one to really keep an eye on the final week or so of the window.”
It was reported before Christmas that Everton had sent scouts to watch Igamane during the Europa League clash between the Gers and Tottenham Hotspur, but it looks as though Moyes is keen to make a deal happen sooner rather than later.
Hamza Igamane
If so, Everton could perhaps land Ferguson 2.0 by signing the Moroccan striker, luring a promising attacker from Glasgow south of the border.
Why Hamza Igamane would be a good signing for Rangers
Plenty of eyebrows were raised when the Light Blues paid around £1.7m to sign the unknown Igamane from Moroccan side AS FAR last summer.
Considering Philippe Clement required a player who was able to hit the ground running and had plenty of experience in senior football, Igamane’s arrival was a surprise indeed.
Fast-forward a few months later, however, and it appears to have turned into a wonderful bargain.
Since making his debut against Celtic at the start of September, the 22-year-old has played 27 times for the Ibrox side, finding the back of the net on 13 occasions, proving plenty of the doubters wrong.
It isn’t just his goalscoring feats that have pleased the Ibrox faithful either, as his overall abilities have been impressive. He is able to hold the ball up well, linking up with those behind him, plus his versatility has seen the striker perform better than expected.
He was praised by journalist Josh Bunting following the stunning 3-0 win over Celtic, who said of the centre-forward: “Hamza Igamane is not staying at Rangers long in my opinion. Think someone at a higher level will pick him up. So much talent and potential there. Movement is so good out of possession, smart with his runs. Into channels or into the central zones. I’ve been so impressed with him.”

His performances in the Europa League have been the most impressive aspect, however. Across five matches in the competition, the youngster has scored four goals, scoring once every 71 minutes for the Gers.
Additionally, the Moroccan, who’s been dubbed “outrageous” by analyst Ben Mattinson, also averages 1.6 shots per game in Europe’s second-tier competition, along with creating one big chance and averaging 1.4 key passes and successful dribbles each match for the club.
These displays on the continent have arguably shown the clubs interested that Igamane has everything in his locker to shine at the very highest level.
Hamza Igamane
Moyes is desperately keen on bringing in some new attacking talent, especially with Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffering an injury against Brighton recently.
Much will depend on the sort of fee Rangers are after, especially considering the striker only joined the Scottish club last summer.
If an offer high enough was presented to Clement, he may find it hard to turn down, with the financial issues at the club needing to be resolved as soon as possible.
Igamane may have started the season as a work in progress, but just seven months later, he is showing the sort of form which has attracted those in the Premier League.
Everton aren’t alone in their admiration of the 22-year-old, indicating the need for Moyes to act swiftly.

Sheffield Wednesday now have only one win to shout about from their last five Championship games after an action-packed 2-2 draw versus Bristol City.
Danny Rohl’s Owls looked to be heading for all three points but Ross McCrorie ended up breaking Wednesday hearts at Hillsborough with a late equalising strike for the Robins.
Sheffield Wednesday managerDannyRohllooks dejected after the match
The German will hope his team’s season doesn’t unravel from this point onwards, as the South Yorkshire outfit find themselves just four points shy of the playoff picture in spite of their inconsistencies on the pitch.
To help their chances of being dark horses for the top six, the ongoing transfer window will be key in adding in some impactful new additions, with one deal already playing on their minds.
Sheffield Wednesday make bid for £6k p/w star
As per a recent development by journalist Alan Nixon, Wednesday could be set to tie down loan star Shea Charles to a deal that lasts until the end of the campaign.
Transfer Focus
Mega money deals, controversial moves and big-name flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across Football FanCast.
Charles’ loan stint at the club has come to an end after parent employers Southampton recalled the young midfielder this week, but the Owls could be about to reverse that call having now allegedly upped their offer to keep the Northern Irishman situated in South Yorkshire.
Northern Ireland'sSheaCharlesin action with Belarus' Valeriy Gromyko
Amazingly, the Owls are battling it out with fierce rivals Sheffield United to try and win the £6k-per-week man’s extended signature, with Sheffield Star journalist Joe Crann further adding fuel to the fire by stating a deadline has been above Wednesday’s head to secure a deal.
What Charles could offer Sheffield Wednesday
If Charles was to stay put, this would no doubt help the Owls’ chances of breaking into those coveted playoff positions, with the ex-Manchester City youngster already forming an impressive midfield partnership with Barry Bannan.
There wouldn’t be that awkward acclimatisation period for Charles, therefore, considering he has already starred this season at Hillsborough, hence the frenzy to keep him around.
The Owls number 44 had been a revelation before being recalled, with his grit in the middle of the park coupled with his composure on the ball making him an obvious fan’s favourite alongside familiar faces such as Bannan.

Looking at the table above, it’s clear that the Owls duo complement each other nicely, with Charles more content at doing the dirty work than Bannan away from also being competent in pushing further up the pitch to help out his attacking teammates.
After all, that one strike Charles has managed this season in league action was his first ever professional goal, but his ability to win a high amount of duels per league clash among other battling numbers – as can be seen looking at the table above – has no doubt helped the Scotsman up his levels after a forgettable 2023/24 campaign passed him by.
Bannan would only muster up three goal contributions across 42 league clashes, with his figure for this season already up to six owing to his lively teammate perhaps giving him more freedom to fire home beautiful strikes like this one away at Derby County.
Labelled as “fantastic” player in the past by Pep Guardiola, on top of also being noted as having “undeniable Premier League potential” by football talent scout Jacek Kulig, Charles staying put at Hillsborough until the end of the season would be a phenomenal move if pulled off.

The IPL has started the process for the upcoming mini-auction by asking the ten franchises to submit their list of retained players by November 15. While a date for the auction has not yet been finalised, it is expected to be held in the third week of December.Unlike the mega auction last year, when two new franchises were added and the old teams could retain a maximum of four players, there is no such cap for the mini-auction ahead of IPL 2023. In addition to the money left over from the previous auction, each team will have an additional INR 5 crore (approx. US $607,000) to spend, making the overall auction purse INR 95 crore (approx. US $11.5 million).Punjab Kings had the largest purse left – INR 3.45 crore (approx. US $425,000) – after last year’s auction, while Lucknow Super Giants had exhausted their entire purse. Chennai Super Kings had INR 2.95 crore (approx. US $358,000) remaining, followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore (INR 1.55 crore, or approx. US $188,000), Rajasthan Royals (INR 0.95 crore or approx. US $115,000) and Kolkata Knight Riders (INR 0.45 crore, or approx. US $55,000). Defending champions Gujarat Titans were left with INR 0.15 crore (approx. US $18,000) while three teams – Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals – had INR 0.10 crore (approx. US $12,000).Despite franchises having smaller purses, mini-auctions have produced some of the most expensive buys in the past. At the 2021 auction, South Africa fast bowler Chris Morris became the most expensive player after Royals bought him for INR 16.25 crore (then approx. US $2.2 million), which was INR 25 lakhs more than Delhi’s winning bid for India allrounder Yuvraj Singh in 2015.Overseas players have often been big earners at mini-auctions with Pat Cummins getting INR 15.5 crore from Knight Riders in 2020, while Ben Stokes’ first IPL pay cheque was INR 14.50 crore from Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017.Stokes along with his England team-mate Sam Curran and Australia allrounder Cameron Green are some of the overseas players franchises expect to attract the biggest bids if they enter the auction.Three teams – Kings, Capitals and Super Giants – bought only seven overseas players at the previous auction, so they could be on the lookout to fill up the last spot. Other teams could release one or more of their overseas players to create vacancies and increase their purses. Also, six franchises had brought in injury replacements during IPL 2022. These franchises will have to decide whether to retain the replacement player or the original player, or both provided the player limit allows. Following is the list of players originally bought and their replacements:
Adam Milne, replaced by Matheesha Pathirana (Super Kings)
Tymal Mills, replaced by Tristan Stubbs (Mumbai)
Nathan Coulter-Nile, replaced by Corbin Bosch (Royals)
Mark Wood, replaced by Andrew Tye (Super Giants)
Alex Hales, replaced by Aaron Finch (Knight Riders)
Jason Roy, replaced by Rahmanullah Gurbaz (Titans)
